Wondering how you can use social media for good? Then you won’t want to miss our March Emerging Leaders digital event. On Wednesday March 31st at 7:00pm, we’re hosting two online rockstars who will share more about how they’re making change online.
Joining us are Alexis Nelson, the Black Forager, who teaches her followers about foraging in their own backyards and Lucy Biggers, Producer and Host of One Small Step with Now This News.
Alexis Nikole Nelson: By day, Alexis works as a social media manager. But in her free time, Alexis is out in nature right here in Columbus using her Instagram and TikTok presence to educate the world about foraging. Her funny, engaging videos have amassed a BIG online following. Alexis is showing the world how you can take the plants from your backyard and make something spectacular. She’s also educating her followers about racism, reclaiming outdoor spaces, and pressing environmental issues. You can find her on Instagram @blackforager and on TikTok @alexisnikole.
Lucy Biggers: Lucy is an award-winning host, producer, and video editor for NowThis News in New York City. In 2018, she created the video series One Small Step, focusing on sustainability issues and solutions for the climate crisis. Lucy has interviewed many influential figures in the environmental movement, including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Greta Thunberg, Gina McCarthy, and Naomi Klein. Her videos have been viewed and shared millions of times on social media. Lucy has brought her energy and expertise to events for organizations such as the United Nations, Earth Day NY, ThredUP, and FoodTank. Lucy leverages her online following to educate and inspire her audience to care about the climate. You can find her Instagram @lucybiggers and on Youtube.
