Subject: Ohioans deserve a full, immediate repeal of House Bill 6

Message:

When House Bill 6 (HB 6) was passed in 2019, it was called the “worst energy bill of the 21st century.” Now we know just how bad this bill really was. The disastrous legislation dismantled our renewable energy and energy efficiency standards, bailed out two antiquated nuclear plants and two polluting coal plants, and stuck Ohioans with dirtier air and higher utility bills. But as we suspected all along, the billion-dollar bailout that was strong-armed through the General Assembly appears to have been fueled by corrupt pay-to-play dealings with corporate utilities. This entire bill is corrupt from the inside out. We call on you to follow through with your call to repeal House Bill 6, and immediately sign legislation that repeals the bill in its entirety when it comes to your desk. It’s time to restore trust in the legislative process and embrace our renewable energy future, good paying careers, and cleaner air for all Ohioans. That begins with a full repeal of HB 6 and work on new legislation that embraces the renewable energy transition happening every day across Ohio. Our environment, our economy, and our communities depend on this important action today.
